Description:   Base camp at the Parks Victoria Skipworth campground on the Jamieson River, approximately 11 km  south of Jamieson on the Mansfield - Jamieson Road.  Gavin Lilley led this base camp trip in 2015 and was very much enjoyed by those that attended. This trip provides the opportunity for members wishing to take away their caravans or campertailers, as the Skipworth campground is located on the  sealed section of the Mansfield-Woods Point and is  a large  flat grassy site,  set up with toilets and fireplaces. Whilst the campground is on the Jamieson River, drinking water is to be  carried into the campground, as there are many campgrounds upstream. The trip is also an opportunity for  a trip before the years end for those members that were unable to get onto the Cup weekend and Mount Buller trips.

Saturday would see us leaving the campground around 0900 for a trip up to Mount Terrible at 1325m, with great views over the high country,   along medium graded but at times rocky  tracks. Carolyn and I are planning to stay overnight Sunday until Monday which would allow an additional 4WD trip on the Sunday, for those that may wish to take part.  Otherwise some participants may wish to travel south on the Sunday,  to explore the old gold mining towns down as far as Woods Point some 45 km to the south of the campground. We will arrive back at the campground on Saturday afternoon with sufficient time for a happy hour and for those wishing  to fire up their camp ovens.

The Hema Map High Country Victoria, Western Sheet indicates the location of the trip.

Carolyn and I wI'll  be at the campground early afternoon on Friday to set aside an area for our club, for those to come and setup on Friday.
